Miniature Bookcase Altoid Tins by Donna Vaux

  • Denton Makers Center 728 North Elm Street Denton, TX, 76201 United States (map)

Students will use a variety of materials to create a miniature bookcase scene inside an Altoids tin. They’ll learn how to make their own miniatures—such as books, pencils, and decorative artwork—at an approximate 1:12 scale. We’ll also use scrapbook paper and pages from old books to mod podge book-themed collages on the outside, hiding the teeny, tiny treasures inside.

Students can bring: A small personal snack or something to share with the class, if so inclined. A water bottle or other drink. Any teeny tiny trinkets you may have at home that you want to include in your miniature scene.

Donna Vaux Bio: I am a mixed media miniature artist who uses up-cycled items I find at Thrift and Antique stores to create realistic-looking miniature scenes. I find that creating dioramas is a fun, challenging, and imaginative way for me to express my artistic abilities through many different mediums, such as sculpting, painting, building, drawing, printing, and repurposing items. I volunteer and teach Workshops at Denton Maker Center and sell my dioramas in multiple locations throughout the city of Denton.
